How Final Jeopardy Made Me Think: "Dumb And Dumber"

Today I was watching Jeopardy tonight and the final Jeopardy category was “Brand Names” and the clue was:

To feature it’s “Strong Enough To Stand On” product, in 1965 Shwayder Bros, Inc changed it’s name too?

The way it was worded made me think of Brawny paper towels, but unfortunately it was wrong. The correct answer was “Samsonite”. I thought, “Samsonite, I was way off”. The reference was to the movie Dumb and Dumber.

Harry: What’s her last name? I’ll look it up.
Lloyd: You know, I don’t really recall. Starts with an S! Let’s see. Swim? Swammi? Slippy? Slappy? Swenson? Swanson?
Harry: Maybe it’s on the briefcase.
Lloyd: Oh, yeah! It’s right here.
[He reads the manufacturer's name, which is Samsonite]
Lloyd: Samsonite! I was way off! I knew it started with an S, though.

Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader’s First Millionare

On the first episode of it’s 3rd season, “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader” gave away it’s first million dollars. The contestant was Georgia’s state superintendent of schools and was going to donate all of her winnings to the schools. She went 11 for 11 without using any of her cheats and she is the only contestant to be able to say, “My name is ______, and I AM smarter than a 5th grader”.

I had fun watching because it is a very selfless act and you want her to win so that the schools will get better funding. Congratulations to Kathy Cox and the Georgia schools system.

Sarah Palin, McCain’s VP Nominee; Sarah Who?

Posted at: 11:50 pm by Timothy Haroutunian
Categories: Entertainment and News

First of all, I know that I am not the first person to think this, but she looks a lot like Tina Fey (formally SNL and currently 30 Rock).

Sarah Palin is the current Governor of Alaska who is in her first term. She is a Republican pro-life gun Lover. She may help John McCain to come close to the White House, but this country needs change and John McCain isn’t going to change at all. He is hoping to “change” the politics that put the people of this country second, however, he voted with George Bush 90-95% of the time.

McCain is hoping to get the women vote, however, not many women will agree with someone who thinks that guns are more valuable than having our troops come home on a realistic and set timetable. If she agrees with John McCain, than she is for the war in Iraq and for making the rich richer. As a mother of five, she sure doesn’t seem to care about their future to let John McCain continue to run this country like it has been over the last 8 years.

John McCain may be a veteran of this country and for his sacrifice we should thank him, but he will not help the families who are struggling to pay the bills in an economy that has decreased drastically over the last 8 years. With Bill Clinton and the Democrats, we had 22 million new jobs and a surplus. Under the direction of George Bush and his equally incompetent Republicans, we only have 5 million new jobs and an economy that would make some countries laugh. While we are spending billions of dollars a month on the war, Iraq has a 80 Billion dollar surplus. Why should we let a country that doesn’t want us there make money while Americans are losing jobs, homes and family members because of our national debt.

By the way McCain, you turn down offering the position to the candidates that everyone knows (Romney) and offer it to someone who no one knows and don’t have any experience. Good job stating that Barack Obama, who has been in the Illinois Senate since 1997 and the US senate since 2005, isn’t ready to be Commander In Chief, but suddenly Palin who has been Governor for not even 2 years does have enough experience to be your running mate. I know that one of them is running for President and the other for Vice President, but if McCain wins, we might see a woman President because McCain is currently 72 years old. I have heard others state that he could “go” during his term and then the VP would take over. Palin isn’t ready for that responsibility and pressure. Alaska politics isn’t that intense and a change to the White House might be too much. Obama might be able to overpower McCain, but Biden can definitely stand up to Palin in the debates over the next two months. She doesn’t have any experience in Foreign Affairs and she didn’t seem confident when she spoke at McCain’s VP announcement.

Here is John McCain announcing Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Barack Obama Officially Accepted The Democratic Nomination

Posted at: 11:54 pm by Timothy Haroutunian
Categories: Entertainment and News

Tonight in Denver, CO, Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in front of 84,000 people. He had an amazing speech and hopefully rallied the party together after a roller coaster like ride between Hillary and Barack. He bought up all the hot topic issues that are really affecting this country.

  • Universal Health Care
  • Economy
  • The War in Iraq/Veterans Benefits
  • Dependence on Foreign Oil/Gas Prices
  • Education
  • Housing Market
  • Global Warming
  • Education
  • Families
  • CHANGE!!!!!

Barack Obama (fingers crossed) is going to be the next President of the United States. He has the plan and the heart to change this country as we all remember before George W. Bush. I am not saying that he will be a FDR or JFK, but he will be better than what we have now. We have a corrupt government who is saying that America doesn’t have any problems and that we are whiners. Barack Obama is someone who has been proving his stances in the Senate since 2005. However, he was in the Illinois Senate from 1997 creating change in the state. He has helped average Americans and not the privileged few that Bush and McCain make friends with who have the money.

As far as Joe Biden, I take back my previous statement about not thinking it was a good idea. After watching him speak at the Democratic National Convention, I realized that he is a good pick for Obama’s VP. His foreign relations are going to strengthen the ticket and hopefully help him win. When I talked about Hillary being VP, I was actually just looking for the votes, but when her and Bill spoke to the Dems at the DNC, I am hoping that their convincing arguments will turn those equal numbers from recent weeks back onto Obama’s side show McCain and his “advisers” that America wants change and not more of the same. As Obama put it, “Eight Is Enough”, but for me, Four years was too much.

DEMOCRATIC PARTY UNITE AND ELECT BARACK OBAMA AS THE NEXT PRESIDENT

‘College’ Movie Trailer Looks Possibly Funny

I haven’t been to see any movies lately and there are a few upcoming movies that might be good or they may suck. When I saw the preview for Superbad, I knew it was going to be funny. I wonder if “College” will meet Superbad at its level.

TANGENT BREAK

I am hoping that this movie is somewhat similar in its “awesomeness”. (Barney from How I met your mother)

Barack Obama Chose Joe Biden As His Vice President

Posted at: 11:49 am by Timothy Haroutunian
Categories: Entertainment and News

This morning I received an email from “Barack Obama” informing me that he has chosen Joe Biden to be his running mate in the November elections. Joe Biden has served as a US senator of Delaware since 1973 and has been apart of the Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committee since that time. Not only was he a member of the Foreign Affairs committee, but for the 110 Congress, he is the chairman of the committee. This may be the reason that Obama chose him as his running mate. He will help to cut the gap between McCain on foreign affairs and hopefully show the country that he does have the resources to handle US foreign relations.

Biden serves on the following committees in the 110th U.S. Congress

  1. Committee on Foreign Relations (Chairman)
    • As Chairman of the full committee Biden is an ex officio member of each subcommittee.
  2. Committee on the Judiciary
    • Subcommittee on Antitrust Competition Policy and Consumer Rights
    • Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs, (Chairman)
    • Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law
    • Subcommittee on Immigration Border Security and Citizenship
    • Subcommittee on Technology Terrorism and Homeland Security
  3. Caucus on International Narcotics Control (Co-Chairman)

Here is a screen shot of the email that was sent out this morning at 4:45am to Obama’s supporters.
Obama-Biden

I’m not sure if this will make the ticket stronger for Obama, but I do know that if John McCain selects Mitt Romney (former Massachusetts Governor), Obama’s chances will drop significantly. I know that many people are against it, but he should have chosen Hillary Clinton as his VEEP. He completely forgot about the 18 million votes that Clinton attained and now those people will either be voting for McCain or not voting at all. Either way it was a bad move on Obama’s part to pick Biden.

I have a feeling that his campaign is going to crumble because of this choice, however, I am still voting for Obama because John McCain will continue what George W. Bush started and this country will fall down even harder than it has now. George Bush says that America doesn’t have any problems, but it seems that we are going to have four more years of “Bush” if Obama doesn’t fly out of the downward spiral he is currently in. Since July, he has lost half of the lead that he had over McCain. Obama is not perfect, no one is, but this country can not afford to continue on the same path that it is going in. We need a change and Obama is that change. He may not be the best choice in the history of the US, but he is not GW or McCain.

VOTE DEMOCRAT IN NOVEMBER!!!!!!

Has Cancer Affected Your Life? Pass This Infomation On

Posted at: 11:40 pm by Timothy Haroutunian
Categories: Entertainment and News

Since I just recently lost my father to cancer, this is a very important topic to me. I hope that you share this with anyone who is important in your life.

This was sent to me in an email from my mother.
————-
After years of telling people chemotherapy is the only way to try (try the key word) and eliminate cancer, John Hopkins is finally starting to tell you there is an alternative way

Cancer Update from John Hopkins

  1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.
  2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person’s lifetime
  3. When the person’s immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.
  4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
  5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
  6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.
  7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.
  8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.
  9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.
  10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.
  11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
    • CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
    • Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal,Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt.
    • Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved.
    • Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
    • A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment.About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices prov ide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts)and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
    • Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine.Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
  12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become purified and leads to more toxic buildup.
  13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body’s ki ller cells to destroy the cancer cells.
  14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence,Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body’s own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body’s normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.
  15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
  16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

Update: Please Read

  1. No plastic containers in micro.
  2. No water bottles in freezer.
  3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don’t freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn’t bad but you don’t know what is in the paper. It’s just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods! to be c ooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

Since I just recently lost my father to cancer, this is a very important topic to me. I hope that you share this with anyone who is important in your life.

The Roast Of Bob Saget: Norm McDonald Was Awful (NSFW)

Posted at: 11:44 pm by Timothy Haroutunian
Categories: Entertainment and News

Everyone knows Bob Saget! Danny Tanner on Full House, the man who brought you 21 minutes of funny videos. Someone that asked the important questions….”Do you want the money or the mob”. He is also the man who is very dirty in his comedy.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

All other comedians who were there to roast him, weren’t that bad, but not everyone can be on each night. When it was Norm McDonald’s turn, he should have played his character on Family Guy (Death) because his own career is over.

Bob Saget ended his night by telling everyone to F*ck Off and suck his 100 million dollar c*ck.

‘The Dark Knight’ Mini Review

Posted at: 11:44 pm by Timothy Haroutunian
Categories: Entertainment and News

I saw the Dark Knight today with my friend Lindsay and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Heath Ledgers performance will shock you because of how real he makes it. He locks in on the role and never backs down. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone, even people who aren’t interested in Batman.

As this video explains, Heath should be up for an Oscar. I know the video is a few weeks old, but it made my point.
