Today is my 24th birthday, and it is also my first birthday without my father. I didn’t really want to celebrate it at all, but my sisters and my mother convinced me that I should. It is also my brother in laws birthday as well.
I went to my sister’s for the day with my family. I got to spend the day with my niece and nephew.
I am currently blogging this on the way into Davis Square to meet up with some friends for my birthday.

It’s August 30th and there are already two teams in the majors who have been eliminated from the playoffs. The Seattle Mariners and the Pittsburgh Pirates are no longer in contention for the playoffs in October.

This has been a very interesting year. A month ago, Jason Bay was playing for the Pirates who just got eliminated and now he is on the Red Sox playing to try and win the division. The division that is being destroyed by the Tampa Bay Rays. A team that this exact date last year, was three games away from elimination. When all the other teams were at least 10-15 games from being eliminated. (except the Red Sox who won the division on September 29th…I was inside “Game On” watching the Yankees lose giving us the title).
Currently the Red Sox are 4.5 games behind the Rays and the Yankees are 11 1/2 with 17 games as their E#. The Red Sox need to get JD Drew, Sean Casey and Josh Beckett back in so that we can finish the season off with another Division Title.
GO RED SOX!!!!!!

First of all, I know that I am not the first person to think this, but she looks a lot like Tina Fey (formally SNL and currently 30 Rock).
Sarah Palin is the current Governor of Alaska who is in her first term. She is a Republican pro-life gun Lover. She may help John McCain to come close to the White House, but this country needs change and John McCain isn’t going to change at all. He is hoping to “change” the politics that put the people of this country second, however, he voted with George Bush 90-95% of the time.
McCain is hoping to get the women vote, however, not many women will agree with someone who thinks that guns are more valuable than having our troops come home on a realistic and set timetable. If she agrees with John McCain, than she is for the war in Iraq and for making the rich richer. As a mother of five, she sure doesn’t seem to care about their future to let John McCain continue to run this country like it has been over the last 8 years.
John McCain may be a veteran of this country and for his sacrifice we should thank him, but he will not help the families who are struggling to pay the bills in an economy that has decreased drastically over the last 8 years. With Bill Clinton and the Democrats, we had 22 million new jobs and a surplus. Under the direction of George Bush and his equally incompetent Republicans, we only have 5 million new jobs and an economy that would make some countries laugh. While we are spending billions of dollars a month on the war, Iraq has a 80 Billion dollar surplus. Why should we let a country that doesn’t want us there make money while Americans are losing jobs, homes and family members because of our national debt.
By the way McCain, you turn down offering the position to the candidates that everyone knows (Romney) and offer it to someone who no one knows and don’t have any experience. Good job stating that Barack Obama, who has been in the Illinois Senate since 1997 and the US senate since 2005, isn’t ready to be Commander In Chief, but suddenly Palin who has been Governor for not even 2 years does have enough experience to be your running mate. I know that one of them is running for President and the other for Vice President, but if McCain wins, we might see a woman President because McCain is currently 72 years old. I have heard others state that he could “go” during his term and then the VP would take over. Palin isn’t ready for that responsibility and pressure. Alaska politics isn’t that intense and a change to the White House might be too much. Obama might be able to overpower McCain, but Biden can definitely stand up to Palin in the debates over the next two months. She doesn’t have any experience in Foreign Affairs and she didn’t seem confident when she spoke at McCain’s VP announcement.
Here is John McCain announcing Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Tonight in Denver, CO, Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in front of 84,000 people. He had an amazing speech and hopefully rallied the party together after a roller coaster like ride between Hillary and Barack. He bought up all the hot topic issues that are really affecting this country.
- Universal Health Care
- Economy
- The War in Iraq/Veterans Benefits
- Dependence on Foreign Oil/Gas Prices
- Education
- Housing Market
- Global Warming
- Education
- Families
- CHANGE!!!!!
Barack Obama (fingers crossed) is going to be the next President of the United States. He has the plan and the heart to change this country as we all remember before George W. Bush. I am not saying that he will be a FDR or JFK, but he will be better than what we have now. We have a corrupt government who is saying that America doesn’t have any problems and that we are whiners. Barack Obama is someone who has been proving his stances in the Senate since 2005. However, he was in the Illinois Senate from 1997 creating change in the state. He has helped average Americans and not the privileged few that Bush and McCain make friends with who have the money.
As far as Joe Biden, I take back my previous statement about not thinking it was a good idea. After watching him speak at the Democratic National Convention, I realized that he is a good pick for Obama’s VP. His foreign relations are going to strengthen the ticket and hopefully help him win. When I talked about Hillary being VP, I was actually just looking for the votes, but when her and Bill spoke to the Dems at the DNC, I am hoping that their convincing arguments will turn those equal numbers from recent weeks back onto Obama’s side show McCain and his “advisers” that America wants change and not more of the same. As Obama put it, “Eight Is Enough”, but for me, Four years was too much.
DEMOCRATIC PARTY UNITE AND ELECT BARACK OBAMA AS THE NEXT PRESIDENT

I haven’t been to see any movies lately and there are a few upcoming movies that might be good or they may suck. When I saw the preview for Superbad, I knew it was going to be funny. I wonder if “College” will meet Superbad at its level.
TANGENT BREAK
I am hoping that this movie is somewhat similar in its “awesomeness”. (Barney from How I met your mother)

I was on Facebook today and I looked over and saw an ad of a really good looking girl with the words “Real CS Degrees Online” above it. At first, I thought to myself, “Yes, that’s what the females in my CS classes looked like” (in sarcastic tone). Now I’m not saying that there aren’t very attractive females who are into computers, just not the majority of them.
If she was a Computer Science major, why would they put her at graduation. Why don’t they do a photo shoot in a computer lab and have her configuring routers or at a computer. Instead they pick at random a beautiful woman with a cap and gown on. All I was focusing on was that some poor sap is going to see that ad and expect to find that’s what the girls will look like. However, that is an insignificant point because the classes are Online.
I guess that is the point of marketing and ad placement!

The Red Sox will start a three game series against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. It is the last time that the Red Sox will play in the old Yankee Stadium as the new Yankee Stadium will be opened at the beginning of next season. It is very unfortunate considering how many historical moments happened in Yankee Stadium. First with it’s opening in April 1923, only 11 years after the opening Fenway Park. The stadium was home to players such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Some other historical events were more towards the Red Sox, 2004 and Slap-Rod.
The Sox will never play there again, because the Yankees are obviously not making the playoffs this year and if they do, they will be out in the first round which we won’t play them.
GO SOX!!!

Eli Stone premiered on January 31, 2008 and immediately caught my attention since my father was battling a malignant brain tumor at the time. I really enjoyed the content of the show, but it was a little sad. As the show began to evolve, the stories became harder to watch when my father was given only a few months. However, my father didn’t change a lot by April for the season finale so it was a very sad, but I was able to get through it.
Every Saturday night during the summer they have been replaying the season each week to prepare for the season two premiere on October 14th. Since I enjoyed the show the first time through I figured I would watch it again during the reruns. During that time, my father health declined and was given a couple of days. After he passed away, I stopped watching a couple of the episodes because it was too hard to handle. Since it is one of my favorite shows, I had to get back into watching it so that I could see the season premiere. It was hard to watch especially since today was the rerun of the season finale which was the hardest of them all.
At the beginning of the episode, Eli had a dream that the surgery had gone wrong, but he woke up. He went through the episode thinking that he was going to have surgery that Friday. It turns out that he had already had the surgery, but his mind is believing that he had not. Little by little Eli gained another clue about why everything seems different. They flip back to reality to see all of his family and friends as they gathered by his bedside. Back in his dream, he went to see Dr. Chen who got him to realize that he was imagining the whole situation. This was the hardest part of the show to watch because of the following conversation.
- Chen: You could let go. No one blames you, Eli. No one’s angry. They’re sad and they’ll hurt. They’ll hurt for a long time but the world will go on without you, Eli. The world doesn’t need Eli Stone unless…
- Eli: Unless? I have…
- Chen: You could say it Eli, it’s okay. I’m sure it’s nice for Him to hear.
- Eli: (choked up) I have more to do? I have more to do!
- Chen: (smiling) I think so too.
Chen gave him one acupuncture needle and he went into an area of nothing. He turns around to see George Michael who sings “Feeling Good” as the rest of the important people in his life dance around him. When the song ends, he wakes up in the hospital, looks around and finally takes a deep breath.
Even though the show ended different, this episode hit a little too close to home and it made me do a lot of thinking about everything. My breaking point was when Chen said “They’re sad and they’ll hurt. They’ll hurt for a long time but the world will go on without you”. Now everything seems different, confusing and upsetting, but I know this is a speed bump in the road of life. Actually it is more like a brick wall that wrecks the front of your car. It makes it so you can still drive the car, but it will never run the same as it did years ago. You can even get a paint job to cover the bodywork or “scars” but the ordeal will remain. People have told me numerous times that it is very hard, but it does get better. Well I don’t know about the second part, but the were right on when they said it is very hard.

This morning I received an email from “Barack Obama” informing me that he has chosen Joe Biden to be his running mate in the November elections. Joe Biden has served as a US senator of Delaware since 1973 and has been apart of the Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committee since that time. Not only was he a member of the Foreign Affairs committee, but for the 110 Congress, he is the chairman of the committee. This may be the reason that Obama chose him as his running mate. He will help to cut the gap between McCain on foreign affairs and hopefully show the country that he does have the resources to handle US foreign relations.
Biden serves on the following committees in the 110th U.S. Congress
- Committee on Foreign Relations (Chairman)
- As Chairman of the full committee Biden is an ex officio member of each subcommittee.
- Committee on the Judiciary
- Subcommittee on Antitrust Competition Policy and Consumer Rights
- Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs, (Chairman)
- Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law
- Subcommittee on Immigration Border Security and Citizenship
- Subcommittee on Technology Terrorism and Homeland Security
- Caucus on International Narcotics Control (Co-Chairman)
Here is a screen shot of the email that was sent out this morning at 4:45am to Obama’s supporters.

I’m not sure if this will make the ticket stronger for Obama, but I do know that if John McCain selects Mitt Romney (former Massachusetts Governor), Obama’s chances will drop significantly. I know that many people are against it, but he should have chosen Hillary Clinton as his VEEP. He completely forgot about the 18 million votes that Clinton attained and now those people will either be voting for McCain or not voting at all. Either way it was a bad move on Obama’s part to pick Biden.
I have a feeling that his campaign is going to crumble because of this choice, however, I am still voting for Obama because John McCain will continue what George W. Bush started and this country will fall down even harder than it has now. George Bush says that America doesn’t have any problems, but it seems that we are going to have four more years of “Bush” if Obama doesn’t fly out of the downward spiral he is currently in. Since July, he has lost half of the lead that he had over McCain. Obama is not perfect, no one is, but this country can not afford to continue on the same path that it is going in. We need a change and Obama is that change. He may not be the best choice in the history of the US, but he is not GW or McCain.
VOTE DEMOCRAT IN NOVEMBER!!!!!!

As a jQuery user I like to learn new and exciting uses of the framework and the jQuery conference should be educational. However, money can normally be a deterrent from attending. Since it is in Boston and the cost is only $50, it makes it easier to go. My boss found out that I was going and told myself and two co-workers to submit our receipts so work could expense it.
“jQuery is a fast, concise, JavaScript Library that simplifies how you traverse HTML documents, handle events, perform animations, and add Ajax interactions to your web pages. jQuery is designed to change the way that you write JavaScript.” – source
They still haven’t determined a location yet, but if you would like to attend, check out http://events.jquery.com.
