The winner of Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs. Favorites is Parvati Shallow. I was very surprised it wasn’t Amanda because of how well she played the game, but the final tribal council was a rough one.
Amanda did not win, but she did find someone that she enjoyed spending time with and ended up falling in love with her. Amanda and Ozzy are the new couple on Survivor and I am glad, because they made a great team.
The next season, Survivor 17, will be in Gabon, Africa (Gabonese Republic) which is the last eden.

Today in the win over the Minnesota Twins, Daisuke Matsuzaka threw his much publicized yet “rumored” Gyro ball. It turns out, he completely lost control of the ball as he was coming over the top to throw it and it rolled into home plate. It was so bad, that it didn’t even make it to the plate itself. However, that didn’t stop the Red Sox from coming away with the 5-2 win over the Twins.
I have never liked country music, but Trace Adkins is an awesome performer and all around good person. The reason I heard about him was on Celebrity Apprentice where he came in second place (should have been first). His song, “You’re gonna miss this” shot to number 1 and is one of my favorite songs. I don’t know many by him, but he is a amazing person.
*** SPOILER AHEAD as of May 8th, 2008 - Final four ready for finale ***
I will get to the results for tonight, but I must preface it with classes in “an introduction to back stabbing” and “blindsiding 101″.
This season of Survivor is one that has been filled with injuries, evacuations and back stabs. Not just 1 back stab…FOUR of them. *BLINDSIDE #1* First was Ozzie (my favorite) who was blind sided by the rest of the tribe and voted out while holding the hidden immunity idol. As you could tell from his face, he wasn’t surprised, he was blown away by the blatant betrayal of Parvarti and Cirie. This will end up costing them in the season finale on Sunday (May 11th) because the jury will not give them a vote.
*BLINDSIDE #2*
Since the Idol was not played and not around to play, it was hidden again. Jason was sent to exile and was able to find the “Real” idol. Since he thought he found the real idol that Ozzy carved and re-hid as a fake one, he was positive this time. However, he was convinced that James was getting voted off and never played it. He was blindsided with a 4-3-1 vote. James was the next to go, but he left due to a medical evacuation (along with Jonathan and Kathleen in earlier episodes) and no vote was required. *BLINDSIDE #3* Next, the entire tribe was against Amanda and they told her that she was getting voted off. She played it off so well, while never lying that she had the idol, and was able to blindside Alexis by voting her off after she played the newly hidden immunity idol.
*BLINDSIDE #4*
The latest blindside needed it’s own paragraph because of how ruthless it was. Erik, who has been a physical threat since the beginning was the next logical vote. However, he has won the last two immunities making it hard for them to get rid of him. At this immunity challenge, it was no different Erik was awarded the immunity idol and was guaranteed a spot in the final four. Since the girls didn’t want to break up their alliance, they thought up a brilliant plan to back stab him. They tried to convince him that they were going to vote out Amanda and that Natalie would need the Immunity Necklace. He wasn’t sure that it was a good plan and thought that Parvarti might have the hidden immunity and he wanted to vote her out. Cirie and Natalie agreed (not that they cared who they said was getting voted out) and in a complete shocker, Erik gave Natalie the Immunity Necklace. The jury was dying laughing and couldn’t believe what they saw…I couldn’t believe what I saw. This is a game for a chance at $1 million dollars and awarded the title of SOLE SURVIVOR. The definition of the word Sole is “lone(a): being the only one; single and isolated from others”. This means that you are in this game for yourself, no one else. Erik was voted off with a 4-1 vote against him and it was the single most stupid act in Survivor history. After he was voted off and left the tribal council, Jeff stated, “I think that is what you call a life lesson!” James shouted, “I lost my reign as dumbest survivor ever”. If you don’t know when James was on Survivor China, he had two hidden immunity idols and was blindsided and got voted out not playing either of them.
The Final Four has been set with Amanda, Natalie, Parvarti and Cirie. I know that Cirie and Parvarti will not get many if any votes if they make it to the final two/three. Giving Amanda or Natalie the best chance at winning. I believe that Amanda will win if she makes it past the next vote with a 4-3 vote if there are 7 jury members. Also for the favorite survivor to win $100,000, I think it will go to Ozzy. Tune in this Sunday to find out who will claim Sole Survivor.
I know the “Real World” is just a TV show on MTV in it’s 20th season, but they actually care about the people in the house. I know, it is a lame reality TV show, but I like watching other people do stupid things and become an instant celebrity. This season, one of the roommates, Joey has a drinking problem that he can not snake. He tried staying sober from drugs (cocaine) and alcohol for 4 months, but when he moved into the house, everything fell apart on him. He started drinking again and turned back into the “monster” he was during his drinking days. For awhile it was your normal drinking at the bars, but then it got worse. He asked the other roommates not to let him drink anymore, but he always found a way to get his hands on it. Each morning he would claim that he wasn’t going to drink again, but every time he went out, it was just “one more drink”.
Finally he snapped after drinking until 9am and flipped out on everyone in the house making them scared to be anywhere near him. I was watching it and I thought he was going to actually hit the girls in the house. Finally he called the producers of the “Real World” wanting to go home and they talked to him about his options. They explained that they would find him a 30 day rehab center to detox and sort out all of his addictions and then he could move back into the house after. He liked the idea and agreed to do it.
It is good that he is getting help because it was getting bad. It is also nice that the “Real World” is helping him through this troubling time, even though it is helping their ratings. Sorry, that is a big part of why they did it. They also don’t want bad press if something bad happened to someone on the show.

Our country (US) needs a renewable energy source to help power our cities, but shouldn’t we try and use a source that will always be available. Have you ever walked outside and felt a gush of wind on your face? Of course you have because it is part of our environment. Why don’t we use those to power our cities? Well, Rock Port Missouri is the first city in the US to be 100% wind powered. The installed wind turbines on hills grab a hold of the most wind and convert it into power. Historically, Rock Port has used 13 GWH and is producing 16 GWH using the Wind Turbines. They are in theory they are reversing the power used.
Boston was thinking about Wind Power, but it would put a 250 foot Wind Turbine in the middle of the city, which people say would look ugly, but it would reduce our dependency on crude oil. Forget how bad it looks because our country is going through hell over oil and it is not worth it.
The Great Boston Beer Marathon (the original) is back again this year for another go around. I was unable to attend last years and am really looking forward to this year. It will start at at 12pm on June 14th, 2008 and end at 2am on June 15th, 2008.

Earlier today I was at the TD Banknorth Garden for some good old fashioned Celtics blowout basketball. The Celtics beat the Atlanta Hawks in a “should have been over in 4 games” 99-65 win to advance on to the next round of the of playoffs to face Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Garden was filled with an outrageous atmosphere that is awesome. I have been to a lot of Red Sox games and Bruins games, but I have never been to a Celtics game until now. The bruins atmosphere is loud and Fenway Park is outdoors so it is not as contained, but this is a completely different kind of loud. It was a great game considering they won, but there was a play in the third quarter that changed the game.
Marvin Williams of Atlanta grabbed Boston guard Rajon Rondo by the neck, in an open court layup, and forcefully dragged him to the ground. Rondo just laid there for a few minutes trying to catch his breathe. Rondo was given a two automatic free throws, which he made, and Williams was ejected within minutes of review. The crowd, Vasken and I included, flipped out because of how dangerous it was. If Rondo landed on his head, that could have been very serious. He should be fined for such a blatant take down.
John McCain, the Republican candidate for President of the United States, just screwed up horribly in a rally today. He admitted that the “War in Iraq” is all about oil and not the “safety of US citizens”. I knew it all along that the George Bush went into Iraq so that we could get oil for the next [fill in number] years. Oil! This war is about Oil….really?
Today, the cost of the war in iraq is over $515 Billion dollars ($515,000,000,000 +) and it is about something that could disappear in the next 100 years. If this war isn’t about our safety, than we should be spending that money on finding new ways to drive our cars and heat our homes. How much would 515 billion dollars get us in education and finding the cure for the diseases that affect our citizens. The cancer patients who sit and wait to die while more soldiers are getting killed in war and crippling their families. How about the innocent kids who have Diabetes and Autism who just want a chance at a normal life. There is a 1/6 (16%) chance that your child will be born with Autism. How scary is that number when not even 10 years ago, it was down three times the amount now. These illnesses are being pushed a side so the government can secure a commodity that we are trying to reduce.
How dare the government reduce peoples lives and their welling being like that. They should be ashamed of this war and be wishing they never started it. Now we have to suffer because the “children” in the Bush Administration want to have power. I dispise people who would rather go to war over something that we shouldn’t be after. Give the money to scientists to invent a renewable source of energy that will replace our dependence on oil. While your at it, make sure people in this country are safe, fed and sheltered before trying to make some money. I look out and see all the people in this country in need and living on the streets poor. Why can’t they have a shot at surviving.
Here is John McCain and his screw up.
His clarification was the following, but I don’t believe it for a second.
“No, no, I was talking about that we had fought the Gulf War for several reasons,” McCain told reporters.
One reason was Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, he said. “But also we didn’t want him to have control over the oil, and that part of the world is critical to us because of our dependency on foreign oil, and it’s more important than any other part of the world,” he said. “The Congressional Record is very clear: I said we went to war in Iraq because of weapons of mass destruction,” he said.

Tonight I am headed into the Red Sox game vs. Tampa Bay Rays in game two of the series. Last night the Red Sox were able to come away with the win and I hope the same will happen tonight. So far the 3 games I had tickets for, they have won in great games. I hope the rain holds because at the time of post the chance of rain is 60%. However, I am still going in no matter what because my sister and brother-in-law are also going to the game and either way we are going out to get drinks.
That in itself is going to be fun, but tomorrow my friend Vasken is coming down from NH and we are going to Game 7 of the first round playoffs, Celtics vs. Hawks. I am so excited about going to the game, but the Celtics should have breezed right through this series which proved to be harder than anticipated. If they lose to the 37 win Hawks, it will be the biggest upset in the history of the NBA. The Celtics won 66 games in the regular season which almost doubled the Hawks. Lets see what Doc has in store for us with KG, Allen and Pierce back in Boston for Game 7.
