After the longest losing streak of the season at 5 games, the Red Sox were able to pull off a win thanks to Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia. Tonight’s pitchers were Jon Lester and Roy Halladay of Toronto. Halladay is a remarkable pitcher but he threw a complete game loss tonight when Ortiz came around to score with the help of Youk. I will get to that in a minute. Tonight’s game is proof that Dustin Pedroia was the right choice for Rookie of the Year in 2007 because of his amazing defense (Offense too).
Just like in the 7th inning of Clay Buchholz no hitter last year, Pedroia made the play of the game. However, this time it was in the top of the 9th inning with a man on 2nd, 2 outs, score tied 0-0. The ball flew over the head of Papelbon and everyone thought it was a RBI single, but Dustin dove then throwing it to first to get the out and end the frame.
In the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs, they walked Ortiz (who almost hit a HR earlier in the AB) putting Manny at the plate. Manny hit the ball into center field putting Ortiz on second. Youk walks up and hits a ball to short left-center dropping to the ground. It would have been a close play at the plate if the outfielder was able to hang onto the ball and actually get a throw off, but he bobbled it and the Red Sox won.

Have you ever wondered how many servers Facebook has? How do they deal with the 26 million user visits each day. Om Malik gave me the answer. According to someone inside Facebook, the company has a total over 10,000 servers. There are 1,800 servers specifically for MySQL that is maintained my two DBAs (Database Administrators). I guess if my web application goes well, I will need to get a lot of servers. That seems a little much, but I guess they know what they are doing.
At my work, we have a bunch of servers as well…and by a bunch, I mean chop of a few zeros from Facebook’s total. Sources say that Facebook will be buying $9 million worth more of servers to add onto their $7 million they spend already.
Tonight on the live finale, Adam ‘Big Baller’ Jasinski was named the winner of Big Brother 9 by a vote 6-1 against Ryan. It was a very long 80ish days spent in the house and finally they left the house with Adam winning $500,000 and Ryan winning $50,000. Adam told the jury that he will be putting $100,000 of his money to go towards helping children in after school programs.
I really enjoyed this season and next season will start on July 13th.
Today when I was spending time with my mother, she received a very strange phone call from a medical office in New York. They were looking for my sister who hasn’t lived at home since 2001 and they thought my mother was her. My mom tried to tell them that she wasn’t my sister and they were convinced it sounded enough like her that they weren’t giving up.
Finally, I got on the phone and tried to resolve the situation, but it only made things more interesting. At first I thought that it was a prank phone call because the caller id said ‘Unavailable Caller’ and it was a very weird call. He spent 5 minutes explaining who he was and when I asked him another question, the guy on the phone, George, told me to “just shut up and do what I asked”. I started laughing at him for making the following worse and he wasn’t too happy with that. I told him that he wasn’t being very professional and that I would like to speak to supervisor and he told me, “Ma’am, you will have to deal with me first.” I told him that I was a guy and will be addressed as ‘Sir’. My mother couldn’t stop laughing at this point.
I asked to speak with his supervisor and when they got on the phone, I decided to prove a point. I explained what had happened and the supervisor said that she was sorry, but that wasn’t good enough. Well, to be quite honest, I didn’t really care, I just like to stir the kettle a little bit when someone who I’ve never met before tells me to shut up. I got the supervisor’s information and told her that I would like a formal apology sent to my parents house or I would be calling to talk with the President of the company and filing a complaint. I wouldn’t have really called, I wanted to see what they would do to fix this. The supervisor said that she would have that out in the mail on Monday morning.
After I got off the phone my mother and I laughed for a while and then I called my sister to tell her what happened. It made my day!
Apparently there are people who believe that Barack Obama should drop out of the Presidential race. However, I feel that Hillary should drop out as I stated a few days ago. Obama is the only person that could beat John McCain.
Obama drops out next week, stating that although he could almost certainly win the nomination by fighting it out until the convention in August, he is simply not willing to drag the party through a battle that will cripple its chances against John McCain. He then pledges to help support Sen. Clinton in her bid—with full knowledge that she will not take him up on the offer.
In one stroke, Obama will regain his messiah creds by making the ultimate sacrifice for the good of the party. His followers will be furious. The mere mention of Clinton’s name will provoke unspeakable acts. They will abandon Clinton in numbers sufficient to hand McCain the election in November.
I do not want to live in a country with John McCain as President because somehow I will manage to go to war when he tries to reinstate the draft to beat the “War in Iraq”. I love the United States, but I am 100% against the war, since 2003. We did need to go to war at the time, but now most of the country is against it, so I don’t need to hold my feelings back.
Barack Obama needs to stay in and hopefully get the Democratic nomination. He will then need to handle damage control created by Hillary Clinton and then go after John McCain for the Presidency.
Harold And Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay premieres tomorrow (April 25th) and I am so excited. I loved Harold and Kumar: Go to White Castle and I have a feeling that this will be just as good.

Last Saturday I was at the Red Sox game when I dropped by BlackBerry into my beer. (Smithwick’s Ale) My phone still worked, but I couldn’t see the screen. After a day of drying out, the screen never showed back up and it is quite important when making calls. I had insurance on the phone and got a new one from the company. I figured all of my numbers and settings were gone, but the new phone came with BlackBerry Desktop Manager which allowed me to transfer all of my files, contacts and messages to my other phone. It made my life so much easier.
Hillary Clinton may have won Pennsylvania, but she won’t be able to win the nomination or the Presidency. The only thing she is doing right now is dividing the Democratic party. Since super Tuesday, the party has been trying to pull together and settle on one candidate and Hillary won’t back down. She has lost so many supporters that her once big lead has dwindled down to about 200 behind Obama. Barack Obama is the best candidate for President because he will bring change.
John McCain will not stop until the war in Iraq is over and after millions more die, we will be left with the bill. If Hillary doesn’t drop out soon, I don’t know if the party can pull together and make a decision which in turn will put McCain in office. John McCain is George Bush’s twin…except John McCain was born 200 years earlier. Take two candidates who were the youngest you could be to become the President (35 years old) and put them together, McCain would still be older than them. How do we know he isn’t senile at that age? Don’t come crying when he bans cell phones and computers for being the devil child. I know that’s why we have checks and balances, but do you really want another 4 years of a Republican who cares more about winning a war than fighting the battles in the US.
Here is an awesome video proving my earlier point about Hillary.

It is better to try and fail….then let those damn Canadians take the easy way out. Not all Canadians, just the Montreal roaming, hockey playing ones. However, I need to give credit where it is due and the credit for the win goes to their goaltender Carey Price. If it wasn’t for Price and his numerous saves against the Bruins offense, the Canadians would be hiking their mountains searching for a better way to make beer. (I guess their beer isn’t that bad)
The Bruins played hard and came back from a 3-1 deficit to force a final game, but unfortunately they were unable to beat Montreal on their home ice. The Bruins did have two key players injured which could have changed the series. Patrice Bergeron has been out since October 27th and Glen Murray was taken off the ice during the first period of game 7. Let’s look ahead to next year. Bergeron was almost clear to play for this final game, a whole new off-season will give him more time to prepare and make him better than he already is. If Bergeron was healthy and playing this whole year, I believe that the Bruins could have beat the Canadians. In most of the games, the Bruins were outplaying the Canadians, but Carey Price was remarkable in the first game and last game of the series.
