Well, they are now 13-0. What do you have to say now Anthony Smith? So much for that guaranteed win! All the Patriots have left are the Jets (3-10), Dolphins (0-13) and Giants (9-4). The spread for the Jets game was 27, but since the stadium is going to be an ice rink, the spread dropped to….24.
Look out Don Shula, the Patriots are going to demolish your record.
I know that every man should know how to do SOME of these skills, but I don’t think that all of them are gender specific. Sure, patching a radiator hose is an important skill to know, but how is extending your wireless network a man’s job. I know how to do 24 out of 25 of the following:
What else could a Red Sox fanatic want more than to spend “Christmas at Fenway Park“; well I got that chance today. It was held in the EMC Club and the State Street Pavilion on the 3rd and 4th floors behind home plate. Today’s event was presented by Stop and Shop and went really well except for the fact that they spread out ticket sales throughout the day based on the time you get there. There were people waiting in line since 6am or 7am, I got there at around 8:15am and was 300th in line and I didn’t get out of Fenway until 1:30pm. I was able to purchase tickets to a half a dozen games (I wanted to get more, but the bank didn’t transfer my money at the time). I got some blue jays, devil rays, diamondbacks and rangers tickets. I also got another game in April…April 12…Red Sox vs. Yankees…Amazing!!! Granted it is bleacher seats for all of them, but it is better than not going to the games at all. I hope I have a chance to go next year because I would make sure that I had money in my account so I could have purchased the maximum of 48 tickets. That would be an amazing Christmas present to friends, plus I would get to go.
Larry Lucchino (Red Sox president/CEO) said “It is a great tradition, isn’t it?” Lucchino said. “Christmastime at Fenway, it’s great. There’s a nice spirit today. [There are] people singing Christmas carols, buying tickets, talking to Francona, buying tickets, listening to radio interviews, buying tickets. It’s a great day,” he said with a smile.
When you walked into the State Street Pavilion, there was a mix bag for $5 which had a signed ball by Lugo, a hat, bracelets and bag tag of the Sox. You keep walking and over by the third base entrance, there was a wall of photos of past players legends of the game and the Red Sox.
Joe Cronin, Player and Manager from 1935-1945 (1947) wore number 4 which was retired May 29, 1984. Ted Williams AKA The Kid, the Splendid Splinter, Teddy Ballgame and The Thumper. He is a baseball hero not only on the field but off the field in World War II. He was the last MLB player to hit over a .400 average over a season in 1941. In the last day of the season, Williams had a .3995 which rounded to .400 and he could have not played to keep the record, but he played the double header anyway. Manager Joe Cronin (Above) left the decision to play up to him since he was confident in his decision. Joe was right because he got 6 hits in 8 at bats, raising his season average to .406. Williams also hit .400 in 1952 and .407 in 1953, both partial seasons; nobody has hit over .400 in a season since Williams.
Carlton Fisk, 27, is better known for his Game 6 1975 World series at Fenway Park. His home run that won the game forcing a game 7 was his defining game as he waved the home run fair as he was in the air will live in Red Sox history as one of the greatest moments in baseball. Jackie Robinson was an inspiration to many for how he changed the game in a tough time in our countries history. He was not the first African American professional baseball player in United States history, his Major League debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers ended approximately eighty years of baseball segregation. His number has been retired by Major League baseball in 1997. At the time Red Sox player Mo Vaughn was wearing the number and they introduced the “Grandfather rule” stating that any active player can continue wearing the number for their career. Mariano Rivera, closer for the New York Yankees is the only and last person to ever wear number 42.
Here are some of the pictures I took while I was at Fenway today, the full set of photos is located on my Flickr account.

Photo Machine is an online photo sharing website that is absolutely horrible compared to Flickr. We were using them on one of the sites at work up until the other day when we realized that the link no longer worked on our site. We went to the website to try and figure out what was going on and there was no login button anymore. Then we were thinking that if we called them that we could find some answers. Using the number at the bottom of the page, we got a credit card place instead of Photo Machine.
I went online to the Photo Machine FAQ and I found out something really interesting about their so called guarantee. When asked “Is Photo Machine WSIWYG Secure?” (What you see is what you get).
Their response was
Photo Machine stores all websites and personal information in high security level servers, so there is absolutely no security risk to your data. All billing transactions are provided by Bank of America? and/or 2CheckOut? payment systems. Photo Machine is a trusted member of Bank of America? and 2CheckOut?.
I am alright with the part about Bank of America and 2CheckOut since I trust them, but the problem I have is with the fact that they state there is absolutely no security risk to your data. That is not true and you can’t make that guarantee fellas. Did you hear about TJX getting hacked into. It is possible so there is no such thing as 0% risk. Also, your site sucks!
Use Flickr by Yahoo, it is the #1 photo sharing site on the internet and I absolutely love it. I wouldn’t use anything but. Normally free, but the Pro version for $25/year, I get unlimited photos, sets, collections, and uploads. I highly recommend it
This Saturday (December 8th, 2007) the Red Sox are going to be hosting Christmas at Fenway Park and I will be one of the people attending. This is an invitiation only event in which you get to meet some of the players, coaches and management while participating in the festivities. Invitees will be able to purchase up to 8 single game tickets and 2 Sox Pax (4 tickets per pack). I will be buying the max number that they allow (They will most likely be bleacher seats, but I love those seats).
I am really excited that I will be able to purchase tickets for 2008 considering in 2007, I only got to go to one game the whole season. I almost got tickets to Game 6 of the 2007 ALCS but that fell through. I am really looking forward to next year. GO RED SOX!!!
Below is a copy of the email they sent me

I know this is a few days late

It is by far the closest they have come to losing in a very long time and with only 1 1/2 yards away from the endzone, they almost dropped the W. To start off, the Patriots played awful, not just bad, but really bad (for them). They had no run, they stopped the wideouts from doing anything and the were taking Brady down. However, something really amazing happened with the Ravens…they collapsed under the pressure of Tom Brady and the Patriots. There were some bad calls made by their offense and defense which cost them the game about 5 times. Check out the highlights video below to see what I mean.
I am 24 days away from my 2 year blogging anniversary and I reached a very big milestone…for me at least. My blog has exceeded one million total page views. I can not believe that I actually got to this point considering the first month I started blogging, I didn’t know if I was going to continue because I didn’t have anything to blog about. After some great advice by Zach and Matt, I was able to find the topics I wanted to write about and my writing style.
I will talk more about this past year on my 2 year birthday, but I leave you with an interesting tidbit. December 7, 2006, I passed 100,000 page loads and in the past year I have blogged at least once a day bringing this year so far to a total of 900,000. I have found that blogging every day has really helped keep my numbers up and kept a readership. It also helps to get put on the front page of Digg a few times. Again, I know that it might not be as much as other blogs out there, but I am very proud of what I have done.
Keep on reading and I will keep on writing.
While I was at work today, I changed a setting and firefox would not load back up so I needed to remove it. When I went into Add/Remove Programs, I noticed the Used section next to the Uninstall button and it caught my attention. First of all, I use firefox every day since version 1.5 which came out about 2 years ago (November 30th, 2005). I use it at work, I use it for my personal browser and for basically everything. I am obsessed with it, especially being a web developer. Back to my story, the Used section told me that it was used rarely. If rarely means everyday, I would understand that, but it doesn’t. They obviously are not calculating something right.
I use Internet Explorer rarely, maybe once a week to check an specific application I am writing to make sure it works. The only reason I do that is because IE sucks and they handle things very poorly. Listen up people…Switch to firefox and raise the numbers from 15% to 70%
Thanks for listening to my rant about Microsoft.

The Red Sox have been interested in Johan Santana for a while and have been talking with the Twins about acquiring him. However, it will cost the Red Sox a huge upcoming star to get Santana. They are either going to be getting rid of Jacoby Ellsbury or Jon Lester which I am not happy about. If I had my choice as to which one we should get rid of, it would be Lester. Ellsbury was amazing in September and October and it would be very hard to see him go.
Johan Santana is a great pitcher and would be a great addition to the Red Sox. He is a 2-time (2004,2006) Cy Young Award winner and won the pitching Triple Crown in 2006. The last player to do that was Padro in ‘99 when he was on the Red Sox. I am still not sure what is going to happen, but I will be sure to blog the outcome at a later point.
