Are The New England Patriots Taking Over Sports?

I was talking with one of my friends the other day about the Patriots and how amazing the games have been and we came across something interesting. When the Patriots are playing, the commentators say how amazing they are, which is natural. However, when other teams in the NFL are playing and they are saying “Brady could have made that pass”, thats not right. I’m not done though! I was watching the Celtics game last night and since they were running up the score on the Knicks, the commentators would say that the Celtics are becoming the Patriots.

Why must everything in sports be about the Patriots, let them play their sport. The Patriots are my team obviously, but it makes us look bad in front of other teams around the country in all sports. I don’t want to be that team. I want people to say in 30 years that the Patriots 2007 season was the best display of athleticism in NFL history and not about the scandals. However, that’s the way the game goes and we will just have to accept being the best team in the NFL. :)

Massachusetts Trying To Ban Spanking

Massachusetts is trying to be the first state in the nation to outlaw spanking. I agree with not hitting kids, but I don’t think it should be banned. I mean, that means that every sports team in the state is going to be thrown in jail. That was obviously a joke, but they need to figure it out because there are some adults who enjoy it and taking that away from them is just wrong.

Here is a video about a guy who makes paddles for a living that he gives away to parents for free.

Firefox 3.01 Beta Release

Firefox 3 ReleaseI downloaded Firefox 3.01 Beta yesterday (a few weeks late) and at first I was thinking that I was going to have to uninstall it right away. If firebug was not compatible, (which the current version isn’t) I would not be able to do any work in web development. Since that is my job, it is very important that I have it. Firebug is one of my favorite development tools that I use daily to debug JavaScript, HTML and CSS. In the new version of Firefox, there are a lot of changes that were made and I am not sure how I feel about them. Some of the others, I like.

It is hard to explain in words but the url equation that auto suggests urls is different. It searches throughout the url for that string first instead of the word sensitive first then sort by all. Also, the CSS renderer is different because of the way some of my sites load. On firefox 2, the CSS was just the way it should look and in firefox 3, it was off by about 5 pixels. If this is the proper way of handling the CSS, that’s fine, but otherwise it needs to be fixed.

They now only allow for secure updates for the extensions, themes and plugins. There is a bookmark tagging and starred section now along with a new way of storing bookmarks. Not a lot more right now but just a quick review.

Patriots Clinch ACE Division Record 10-0, Advance 11-0

AFC StandingsAs you can see on the left, the Bills lost today’s game which means that even before the Patriots played tonight, they would have clinched the AC East Division. The Bills only have 5 more games left and even if they won all their games and the Patriots lost their last 6, we would still win the division since we beat the Bills in head-on play. NFL.com still has not updated their stats yet, but it is the situation. Next stop is Home Field Advantage which we just need to hope the colts lose and we win a few more times.

The Patriots were going for the 11th straight win and it was against the Eagles. It was not an easy game by any means and it was stressful right down to the last 2 minutes. The whole game Randy Moss was shut down and the Eagles gave New England some competition with getting touchdowns and stopping the Pats offense. Luckily, AJ Feeley made a few mistakes that cost him the game. The Patriots won 31-28 and advance to 11-0.

Concord, NH I-93 Offramp Roads Very Confusing

Last night I went up to Concord, NH to meet my friend Vasken and got very confused as I was getting off exit 13 on 93. As you can see on the left, you get off the exit and if you want to head under the bridge, you have to head into oncoming traffic to get on Rt 3. The lights make it so there are no accidents, but it is very confusing because you are not sure where to go. There is also traffic coming from another road at the same time that you are going and that is why you stay to the left which makes it seem awkward.

I have driven off this exit many times, but have always headed the other way and didn’t notice it until last night.

This Day In History: Doug Flutie’s Hail Mary Pass For BC

1203_largeDoug Flutie is one of the most notable names in college football (and that whole pro thing he did). In 1984, he had one of the best years any quarterback had in college football history.

He had the Heisman trophy won since before his famous game since voting took place prior to November 23rd even though some people think that the final game locked it up. Flutie left school as the NCAA’s all-time passing yardage leader with 10,579 yards and was a consensus All-America as a senior. He earned Player of the Year awards from UPI, Kodak, The Sporting News and the Maxwell Football Club.

November 23, 1984 was voted the greatest college sports game in history. Flutie’s BC Eagles beat Miami Hurricanes 47-45 in a back and forth game which ended in a last second hail mary pass to Gerard Phelan.

At the time, I was almost 3 months old and my father was holding me in his hands. When they caught the ball, my father jumped up and I almost hit my head on the ceiling. Luckily for me I didn’t, but it is still a good story.

My Ford Explorer Was Sent To The Junk Yard Heavens

My third post on this blog back in December of 05, was about my Ford “Exploder”, but now it is no more. I had a brake leak that was going to cost way too much to fix and I finally let it go. After about 4 years of having the explorer, it is time to let it be with my Jeep Wrangler in car heaven.

After I took the plates off, took pictures of it as a remembrance of the car that has been through so much and I am going to let it go in peace and not try and fight the inevitable.
