As a web developer, you can only have so many browsers and operating systems running in your workspace. I have been able to get for Windows with IE 6, IE 7, Firefox 1.5, Firefox 2 and Safari. I also have installed, Firefox 2, Safari and IE for MAC. I guess I could have put another box with Linux on it and got some browsers for that, but it would be very time consuming trying to test on all of them.
Luckily, that is a little easier now that Browser Shots came out. It takes 43 different browsers (7 Windows, 3 MAC OSX and 32 Linux) and runs them on each taking a screen shot once it loads. They allow the user to specify screen size, Java Script enabled, Java enabled and flash enabled. You can check back at any point to see what it looks like or you can download all the screen shots for later viewing off line.
This tool is a great item to add to a pre-launch checklist. Since my work (Student City) just soft-launched our new website which I am developing, I figured I would check it out in other browsers before we go completely live with the site.
At 18 months, my nephew Cameron used the swiffer to clean up a mess he made and then decided it was too fun to stop and pushed it around some more. This would be something that my mother would have him do, but he enjoyed it so everything was fine.
Veronica Belmont posted about a funny video game console comparison that was sent to her by someone and I thought I would share it. It compares XBox 360, PS3 and Wii in a verbal assault on each of them.

A Patriots video assistant was caught by NFL security filming the New York Jets’ defensive signals. Jets coach Eric Mangini, a former Patriots assistant, tipped off league officials that the Patriots might have been filming their signals. After the game, the Jets formally complained to the league.
Two days later, Belichick issued a statement “to apologize to everyone who has been affected,” and also cited he spoke with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell about Belichick’s “interpretation of the rule”.
On September 13, Belichick was officially fined $500,000 USD–the the biggest fine ever imposed on a coach in the league’s 77-year history, and the maximum permitted under league rules. The Patriots were also fined $250,000. Additionally, the Patriots will forfeit their first round draft pick in the 2008 NFL Draft if they make the playoffs. If the Patriots do not make the playoffs, they will forfeit their second and third round selections in the 2008 draft. He said that he fined the Patriots as a team because Belichick is effectively the team’s general manager as well as head coach, and exercises so much control over the Patriots’ on-field operations that “his actions and decisions are properly attributed to the club.”
September 16, the Patriots kick off their home opener at Gillette Stadium by “Charging” through San Diego with a 38-14 win. This was the same score as the game vs. the Jets. It is very unfortunate that this had to happen, but the Patriots proved that with/without the video, they ARE the best team in the NFL and that is why they are considered a dynasty, not because of a incident. I believe in Belichick and the players on the Patriots and just like every analyst out there, the Patriots will win the Super Bowl this year.
In a related scandal, the Jets defense is now under investigation after shouting out signals to throw off the Ravens (which is also illegal). I don’t really know how to take this, but it will be an interesting season.
Below is a awesome video of the “stolen footage” (not real obviously, but VERY funny!!!)
Love the use of the Madden game to make this video work!

The Cy Young Award is an honor given annually to the best pitchers in the Major Leagues. The award was first introduced in 1956 by Commissioner Ford Frick in honor of Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young, who died in 1955. The award honors one pitcher in each league each year. The CYP (Cy Young Points) is calculated (give/take) based on the formula from the ESPN website that is stated below:
Definitions:
Innings Pitched (IP)
Earned Runs (ER)
Strikeouts (SO)
Saves (SV)
Wins (W)
Losses (L)
Victory Bonus (VB): A 12-point bonus awarded for leading their team to the division championship (pro-rated based on the current standings).
The two top candidates are Josh Beckett (Boston Red Sox) and C.C. Sabathia (Cleveland Indians). Here are their numbers below as of posting.

Today, the Red Sox struck hard and this time the bullpen did not give up the lead…the 9 run lead that is. The Red Sox went on to beat the Yankees 10-1 in the middle game of the three game series. Josh Beckett was amazing today just like he has been all season. He gave up 3 hits and 1 run (solo HR to Jeter in the 1st inning) in his 7 column outing. Now the only 19 game winner in the majors, it places him number 1 for the AL Cy Young ahead of C.C. Sabathia by 3 points.
After a stalemate game going into the bottom of the 5th, the Red Sox got a 1 run lead at 2-1 when Lowell singled to bring Ellsbury home. The next inning, the Red Sox got some insurance runs after some hard hitting to Yankees catcher Posada. Hinske came around third and plowed over Jorge but was unable to score as Posada held on to the ball. After that, Ellsbury and Ortiz got hits that scored 3 more runs. When Ellsbury came around third, this time the Sox got the best of Posada by sliding under the tag and scoring.
Even though the Sox didn’t need the runs, they wanted to make sure the Yankees didn’t have a chance to come back tonight and in the 7th inning, they piled up 4 more runs on 2 hits and 5 walks by Yankees pitchers that took 41 minutes to play. Leading 9-1, Eric Hinske thought that he would get the Sox into the double digits by putting up a solo HR in the 8th inning to top the game out. In the top of the 9th, Corey came in to close the game and got one quick out and then walked a batter, but it didn’t matter because the next batter (first at bat in the majors) grounded into a game ending double play.
The Red Sox advance to 90-59 and retake a 5 1/2 game lead in the AL East. Hopefully tomorrow we can end the series by winning the rubber game and make it 6 1/2 game lead. For that to happen, Curt Schilling will need to out pitch Roger Clemens in a battle of the elder vetrens and a repeat of the 2001 World Series. The Sox will need to get to Clemens early in the game and get hit pitch count up so that his “injury” will prevent him from being the ROCKET. This is a man who has won 7 Cy Young Awards and is up there in MLB records for Career Strikeouts, Wins and ERA. He may be going to the Hall of Fame, but the 45 year old can be beat.
Go Red Sox!!!

The Red Sox gave it back to the Yankees in the beginning of the first game of the final series between the two teams in the 2007 Regular Season. Everyone was giving the upper hand to Yankees starter Andy Pettite against Sox starter Daisuke Matsuzaka. However, just because someone says that a pitcher is going to win, doesn’t mean they are going to…on either side. Both starters get a no decision in this game.
With a 7-2 lead going into the 8th inning, the Yankees caused some serious damage. With 0 outs in the inning, the Yankees took a 8-7 lead on 6 hits. It was a very very frustrating inning for the Red Sox and needed to do something in the next two innings to try and retake the lead. Papelbon came in to try and get 6 outs for the save in the 8th inning which is his longest outing he has ever had. Going for his 36 save, he couldn’t do it and blows his 3rd game of the season.
The Red Sox were unable to score in the bottom of the 8th and Rivera came in to try and stop them in the 9th. JD Drew lead off the inning with a single to right field. Varitek stepped to the plate and struck out for the 1st out. Bobby Kielty popped a ball out to center field for out two. Ellsbury struck out for the third out and the Red Sox lose a very hard game that they should not have lost. If I figured it out right, the Red Sox and Yankees were two minutes short of tying for the longest 9 inning MLB game for 4:45 minutes.
Red Sox lose one game in the division now at 4 1/2 games and their record 89-59 which is the best record in baseball right now. The Red Sox are also the only team who realistically have a chance at a 100 win season which hasn’t happened since 1946 when they were 104-50. If the Sox win 100 games, that would be a .617 winning percentage which could be the only over .600% in the majors as well.

Below is a picture of the seven layer dip that I made for the cook-in at my work today!
This is a very easy and amazing tasting dip to make. The only time consuming part is cutting up the ingredients.
Ingredients: (depending on your pan size)
1 Head of Lettuce
2 Tomatoes
2 Cans of olives
2 Container’s Sour Cream
2 lbs of Shredded Cheese (Taco/Mexican style)
1 Large Onion
1 Container Salsa
1 Large Pan (container)
Preparation:
Cut up tomato into little pieces
Cut olives in half
Cut up onion into little pieces
Rip up lettuce into small pieces
Putting it all together (the way I make it)
Place Lettuce on the bottom of pan
Spread out tomatoes after lettuce
Spread onion after tomatoes
Spread olives after onion
Pour container of salsa into pan and spread evenly
Spoon out Sour Cream on top of the salsa spreading it evenly around pan
Spread cheese evenly over sour cream - no white should show (picture after it was moved around)
For special occasions I like to make a design with whole olives (SB = Spring Break for StudentCity.com)

Armenia-Germany annual intergovernmental talks were held in Yerevan September 11-12. Dr Rolf Baldus, Head of Central Asia and South Caucasus Division at Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany represented the German delegation. The Armenian side was represented by Minister of Finance and Economy Vardan Khachatryan, the press office of the German Embassy told Pan.ARMENIAN.Net.
The meeting participants assessed the projects that have already been implemented and discussed reforms in legal field, regional development, ecology, energy, education, etc.
It was noted that Germany intends to provide 79.5 million euros (more than 110 million USD) as financial assistance for Armenia.
Being Armenia’s second (after the United States) donor state, Germany has assigned some 265 million euros for Armenia since 1993.
I took my brother-in-law and sister to the Red Sox game last night at Fenway Park and it was one of the best Sox games I have ever been to. The game started off pretty bad considering the devil rays tacked on a 8-0 lead going into the bottom of the 4th inning. However, like many othen, yr fans in Red Sox Natioou never give up on your team no matter how big the deficit is.
There wasn’t any big offensive action from the Red Sox until the forth inning when they scored 4 times in that inning, 3 runs in the fifth and 6 runs in the 6th.

Considering I was in the bleachers, and most of these were the infield and further, I was quite impressed with the zoom. Some of the photos aren’t as sharp as I would like but that was me moving the camera too quickly. They will get better.
