Sex & Swingers

As my roomate Colby and I were flipping through Channels waiting for Family Guy to come on, he asked me to go back to the Disney Channel because he saw “Sex & Swingers” which he thought was being played by “DISNEY”. Obviously it wasn’t but at the time and the situation with the way that it looked, I could see where he could think that.

By the way, It was Sex and the City and the Movie Swingers

IPod’s Touchless Touchscreen

apple-no-touch-ipod

What if the entire surface of your iPod was a screen, and you could wave your fingers over different parts of the screen to call up different controls? Depending on what you were doing, you could manipulate a virtual scroll-wheel or get a keyboard to pop up. What’s more, you could do this without actually touching the screen or getting it all smudged up. You could be typing in air just above the screen, and the movement of your fingers would be causing each key on the screen to enlarge as you “tap” it.

I don’t know how cool this is going to be yet, but if it works good, I think it will get a lot of attention. Not much more to say about this right now :)

Monopoly Switches to Debit

Monopoly has reached a new low in gaming. Hasbro has invented a Debit Card for each player that you stick into a card reader and you type in the amount that you want to deduct. monopoly_visa
How are kids going to learn how to count money if there is no more MONEY involved. Even worse than that, how are they going to learn how to COUNT while having fun.

After talking with Zach and Vasken, we realized that since more people are using Debit cards now, we should be teaching kids to use debit and not cash. Wait a minute, that doesn’t seem right. When I questioned that comment to them, saying that we will always use cash for somethings.

“Imagine going to a 10-year olds lemonade stand and wanting to buy a $.25 glass (counting inflation from when I was young at $.10), you are not going to hand her your debit card and ask to deduct it.”

Zach being the person he is, piped up and said, “No, she will turn her laptop around and have you enter in your Paypal Account Information.”

OOO….the people that I work with

Anyways, more on the monopoly information when I get it

YouOS - Web Operating System

youOS

YouOS is a web operating system that lets you run diverse applications within a web browser. Small applications like sticky notes or clocks. Large applications like word processing, mp3 players, and instant messaging. Even better, it’s very easy to tweak an existing application or write your own.

After using this “Operating System”, I realized that it was a great proof of concept, but we will see where this will go. It is currenly in Alpha testing right now and now very fast and reliable, however it would be cool if it does get better.

Domain Name Fame

rick-howardRick Schwartz (left) is the Domain Name Kingpin as he has been called by others. Rick Schwartz buys Domain Names and sells them for big money.

When you think Real Estate hot shot, Donald Trump comes to mind, but that era has ended for him. Who wants to own physical property when you can own digital property and make just as much. Rick Schwartz owns about 5,000 domain names and most of them fall under the “Adult” category. He has been the biggest promoter of Domain Name Buying and also the man behind the annual conference “Traffic” bringing together a few hundred domainers (people who buy and sell domain names).

Yun Ye got domainers noticed when he sold his portfolio of 100,000 domain names that make $19 million in profits a year. Ye, a former programmer, wrote software that would figure out which domains were expiring and automatically buy them.

ICANN (Internet Corporation For Assigned Names and Numbers) is the group that is in charge of all of the domain names out in the internet.
